What is Computer?
Computer is machine that can do multiple work at the same time.
British Scientists Charles Babbage came up with the idea of the first modern computer in 1822.
According to Babbage's idea, a device can only be called a computer if it has these multiplications -
1. When a machine can solve any kind of mathematical problem like addition, subtraction, multiplication, division and any technical calculation, we can call it a computer.
2. Secondly, we can store any information in the device
3. The device will have input and output arrangements
Now, as the generation of computers, we can divide the computer into five main generations.
FIRST GENERATION -
BASIC ELEMENTS -
The first generation of computers that we found between 1951 and 1959. Vacuum tubes were the earliest electronic components of first-generation computers.
ADVANTAGES -
One of the advantages we got from first generation computers was that we only needed a vacuum tube to run this first generation computer.
DISADVANTAGES-
One of the disadvantages of first generation computers is that they were much larger in size.
Second, much of the heat was generated from these first-generation computers.
Third, they needed air conditioning to generate a lot of heat from these computers.
Fourth, these computers weren't reliable and required constant maintenance
2nd GENERATION -
BESIC ELEMENTS -
Then there is the second-generation computer, which we found between 1959 and 1964, and which used transistors as electronic components.
ADVANTAGES -
Second-generation computers are much smaller in size than first-generation computers, generate less heat, are more reliable and can work much faster.
DISADVANTAGES-
Second-generation computers also require air conditioning and maintenance.
3rd GENERATION -
BESIC ELEMENTS -
Then there are the third generation computers that we get between 1965 and 1971. The electronics components used in these computers are ICs or integrated circuits.
ADVANTAGES -
Third-generation computers are much smaller in size than first and second -generation computers, generate less heat, much reliable and consume less electricity, affordable, low production costs.
4th GENERATION -
BESIC ELEMENTS -
Fourth-Generation Computers, The computers we have been using since 1971 to the present are part of the fourth generation computers.The electronics components used in these computers are LSICs or VSICs that is large and very large integrated circuits.
ADVANTAGES -
Fourth-Generation Computers are much smaller in size & portable, no air-condition require, no maintenance require, cheap, reliable, multifunctional.
DISADVANTAGES -
Complicated Software.
Fifth generation -
BESIC ELEMENTS -
This generation of computers will use programs in the language of logic.
Advantages -
Fifth-Generations of computers will have a lot of work to do at the same time as they will have their own knowledge.
Difficulty -
Unknown.
