Tandoori Chicken Recipe

Tandoori chicken is a popular dish from Indian cuisine that is made by marinating chicken in a mixture of yogurt and spices, and then cooking it in a tandoor, a traditional clay oven. It is a delicious and flavorful dish that can be enjoyed as a main course or as an appetizer.

Ingredients:

1 lb boneless, skinless chicken thighs or breasts
1 cup plain yogurt
2 tbsp tandoori masala
1 tsp cumin powder
1 tsp coriander powder
1 tsp garam masala
1 tsp ginger paste
1 tsp garlic paste
1 tsp red chili powder
1 tsp turmeric powder
Juice of 1 lemon
Salt to taste
Cilantro for garnish
Instructions:

In a large bowl, combine the yogurt, tandoori masala, cumin powder, coriander powder, garam masala, ginger paste, garlic paste, red chili powder, turmeric powder, lemon juice, and salt. Mix well to make a marinade.
Add the chicken to the marinade and mix to coat the chicken well. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or overnight for best results.
Preheat a grill or a tandoor to high heat.
Thread the marinated chicken onto skewers (if using wooden skewers, soak them in water for 30 minutes before use to prevent burning).
Grill the chicken skewers for 8-10 minutes on each side, or until the chicken is cooked through and the edges are slightly charred.
Garnish with cilantro and serve with mint chutney or yogurt raita on the side.
Tips:

If you don't have a tandoor or grill, you can also cook the chicken in the oven at 425F for 20-25 minutes or until cooked through.
Tandoori masala is a blend of spices that can be found in most grocery stores or Indian markets, otherwise you can make your own mix of spices.
The chicken can also be cooked in an air fryer, it will come out crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside.
This is a basic recipe for Tandoori chicken, you can customize the spices and marination time as per your preference. It is a perfect dish for a summer BBQ or a weekend dinner party, enjoy your homemade Tandoori chicken
